The design begins with the design of the banks that confine the sculpture’s forms. A boundary that contains subtle variations in flow: the rods that compose the chandelier are indeed filled with slight irregularities, twists of the material that, as it cools, relaxes freely, delicately distancing itself from the dictates of the original design. Each rod is therefore unique, endowed with a singularity that shares a common starting point, clear and unmistakable. Just as the synchronous flow of a river conceals the chaotic flow of each individual molecule of water that flows through it, a chandelier by Jacopo Foggini brings together in a regular and defined form the many facets of the material that composes it.
